    Default Kenai Boat Launch Rd

Are they currently shutting the launch down two hours on either side of the tide? I haven't been there enough to know if it varies with the extreme negative versus positive low tides. I'm trying to time when I should show up.

Don't know but a call to the city should answer your question.

Well I tried that and couldn't get a hold of anyone. I'm hoping some recent dippers can chime in.

The launch is closed 2 hours before and after low tide.

The city boat launch is closed approximately 2 hours before and after minus tides. The exact length of closure depends on the size of the tide. This weekend there are very low tides in the middle of the day. Plan accordingly. Parking lots at the city dock, Eagle Rock, Pillars, and Kenai Landing have been filling up all week. It's been one boat out = one boat in at most Kenai launches all day and evening long every day this week. If you are coming to Kenai in July, please bring a lot of patience with you. Some lodges are offering dip-net charters now that the king fishery is shut down. I know one is charging $150/person with a 2 person minimum.
