    Default Eklutna Lake trail

    Is it Sunday thru Wednesday?

Also when riding there do you need to have your atv's registered? Is it required to wear helmets?

Have heard lots of rumors on info just want some clarification. Thanks!!!

    Sun-Wed: Yep. http://dnr.alaska.gov/parks/aktrails...nc/eklutna.htm

I've seen them check for ATV registration there.

How can they check for ATV registration when it's not a snowmachine?

There is no registration requirement for an ATV *unless* it is used as a "snow vehicle."

They can check anything they want, the question is, what do they do if you don't have the machine registered?

You don't have to have it registered so there's nothing they CAN do - so they are wasting everyone's time even checking!

Not true. They find plenty of stolen vehicles when they check registrations.

But since it's summer time, and the post asked about summer time riding, I would assume since it's July 9th- snow vehicle registration is a bit moot, right?

So once again, following the applied link states there's no requirement for ATV registration.

Sun - wed and there's no helmet requirement.

My info could be dated, but I saw what I saw. Eklutna has that nice spacious lot first on the left, where all the ATV trailers de-trailer at. That's where I've seen an LEO looking for registrations on ATVs. I asked. I was told that because its a state run deal there at Eklutna, you had to be registered, whereas in most trailheads no one cares.

I do register my ATVs. If I got scammed so be it I guess; just trying to stay out of trouble.
