Default Clearwater Report 30 June 2012

Did a one day yesterday from a friends invite. Overcast and drizzle most of the morning did not have the fish on the rise. Purple esl produced some nice fish. noon time had the clouds part and sun started to shine, so I went dry and my large blue dunns caught some nice fatties.

Only saw 3 other boats the entire day.

my sons girlfriends fish about 6 years ago, and mind you that this is catch and release only river, These things just keep getting bigger and bigger. ( I could be wrong about that You might be able to keep 1 over 12" but its been awhile since I fished it ) I do believe tho that it is a single art. hook to fish the river.

Fly fishing from the boat is awesome.

They were catching these all day long, ( I was just having fun watching them and driving the boat, lol )

    Hey Rock,

I think you have it reversed. If I remember right the regs are one UNDER 12 inches...LOL! Good luck finding one of those in that stream. I have yet to catch one that small there, not that I would want to harvest one.

I was up there as well on Friday/Saturday. We saw you Saturday morning as you passed by heading upriver, we were fishing the opposite bank from the lodge. We did well on Friday with some nice fish but Saturday just didn't produce. We fished for several hours but the rain seemed to put a damper on their feeding habits and decided to bag it.

Nice fish, Jedi! I dig the shot of that pig with the esl hanging out of his mouth. I need to check this place out. Is it a float only deal, or is wading an option at Delta Junction?

I thought that maybe was you when we passed by. Yeah the morning skys on Saturday really kept them in the water. Glad I brought some leech patterns with me. Sounds like you did ok on Friday.

You can wade in both directions of the state campgound, however the best way I found to approach is with a jet boat either direction also. The current is deceptive. Beautiful river for sure.

Thanks for the updates Rock Skipper. I think I am coming up there next weekend with the family. Hopefully the weather and water conditions improve by then.
