    Default Map of the russian river

    I have fished the russian but I'm not familiar with the names of the different holes , where can I find a map that shows the cottonwood hole etc.
    chugbugs are for big bass -topwater!

    I know of no such thing. Time spent on the river is the way to learn the river, or have someone point them out to you.

    I have never known the names of the holes. I've never needed to fish them since the catching was better elsewhere along the river.
    It's more important to know what parking lot you are in and then find your way back up and out on one of the various stair sets.

    The Cottonwood hole is at the bottom and to the right of the Grayling parking lot. You can tell it by the large diameter cottonwood tree that they litterally blew the upper part off several years ago when it looked as it was going to topple over into the river thaking the root system that is protecting the riverbank. Usually lots of bear in that area. My friends and I usually refer to it as the black bear hole for good reason.

    Haven't seen a bear there yet but I did see this guy there on my first trip in 2003.

    I see mention of the different holes on the site here and thought a map would help alot in getting my bearings , also sportsman landing jims landing locations would be helpful . Thanks for you effort Tomcat , that map would be just what I'm looking for
