Default one more question on the tazlina

Headed that way next week. Anyone remember approximately how long (in hours) it takes to float from the outlet of the lake to the highway?
    Thanks,
    Scott

    Default Hey Scot

If you get time try some greyling fishing at mouth of Mendeltna Creek and give us a report. I also saw on G. earth there is another clear creek coming in on the Tazlina, and wonder if it may hold greyling. Thinking about taking the family on a lengthy trip, but they will want to fish.
Thanks ahead of time, good luck, and looking forward to seeing the trip report.

Caught a couple grayling on the creek dumping into the Tazlina. Did not fish the Mendeltna but it looked like a grayling stream. We spent two nights on the banks of the Tazlina. Make sure to camp on Tazlina lake with the glacier in your face one night. Awesome spot. I don't remember hours on the water but the taz is swift one channel with minimal obstacles other then wave trains. Plan on two full days on the taz or three leisure days. I had my family with me and it was great!

Thanks, Mark. We're skipping the little nel/nel and flying to the outlet of the lake. Hopefully we'll find some clear tribs down there with a little grayling fishing to them.

One day on the nelchina's as well. Potential for boat dragging on little nelchina depending on water level.

River miles divided by flow rate will give u a good idea

Thanks, Nate. I can't find any info on flow right now. I'll try a little more searching but the river forecast site didn't have any current data.

You and I were posting about the same time, we're skipping the nelchina's and the lake crossing. Hopefully we'll still get a good view of the glacier.

Try for grayling where Tolsona creek flows in. I've never fished it but if there was anywhere that may have fish I would think that would. Also moose creek flows in right at the pipeline. Know for sure there are grayling in that creek.

    Scott,

Who did you fly with and how did you shuttle the car to the take out? Planning on doing this float in OCT and am looking for some logistical help.

    Thanks,

    Matt
