Default Looking for a ling cod charter out of Valdez

I would like to take a Ling Cod/rockfish charter out of Valdez, any suggestions? I will also be in Cordova, would that area be better for Ling Cod?

    Thanks

the charter industry all targets halibut or salmon, will be hard to find one where you can catch ling or rockfish other then incidental to halibut or salmon. i had a pvt boat and fished out of whittier for almost 10 years and never caught a ling in that area, but i can tell you where to catch them out of seward easily. Look up Dave Buss, No Excuses. If you can get on, he does halibut first but also catches limits of lings. Ling does not open until July 1st. Dave may be full up already but I am not seeing a lot of campers in town this year so maybe some cancellations.

Yup. Dave puts on a great show, and really good guy. Dan Eames on the Seaculsion also can get you on lings. In Cordova I'd try Steve Ranney over at Orca Adventure Lodge. Another great guy to fish with.

    Good luck!

I'm just curious if you mean out of Valdez, or the whole charter industry in general? If in general I guess you haven't been to Homer in quite a long time. And I'd have to say probably Seward, too. I don't know of any charter operators around here that won't target lings and/or rock fish.

Dave Bruss is not running the NoExcuses this year. I do not know of any boats in Valdez that target just ling cod and rock fish.

Why not charter the whole boat for a day, and go out specifically for ling and rockfish? Six of us did that several years ago, and had a blast!

We caught lots of fish, saw whales and lions, had lunch, and then the guy took us for halibut! It was the best charter we ever had, and we are planning to do it again this year.
