    Default S.W. Talkeetna Mt. Sheep

Has anyone hunted or spent anytime between the headwaters of Sheep Creek and Sheep River in the Talkeetnas? Does it get alot of sheep hunting pressure? Guiding pressure?

I believe Ed Stevenson from Sheep River Hunting Camp guides in that area.

    Default search the archives

Do a search for "wingbouncing" & you will find a thread here & on supercub.org forum. You will find there is a public airstrip in that area however, a couple guys used it last year & had a few problems with the guide using it.
Should be able to be dropped off however & find sheep if your willing to walk.

    Default Wing Bounce

I remember reading about this and thought it was somewhere near there. Sounds like it could be fun, may have bring the six shooter just incase I ran into "said giude" and need to shoot my way out. My only concern would be that a half dozen planes drop in on this strip this year just to tick him off. I probably wouldn't fly in anyway, fourwheeler and some in-shape legs would be my transportation. I'd probably stay on the sheep creek side too, but you never know where your legs may take you. Any one else have any info?

    Default SW talkeetna mtn's

Thats pretty close to my new home! Do I add guides to my list of "watch out for's?" (grin...)
My feets might not be on Alaskan soil yet but I've been paying taxes there for a good number of years now. I don't think I'll let myself be intimidated by he who bounces wings.
As for what the sheep hunting might be like. It's my intent to become very familiar with the area, and if I can be of any service or advice in the future just ask!
Gosh I wish I was there!!! Just a few more day's... just a few more day's...

    ciao...
