Default Do garmin 62 series handheld GPS work well up there?

Anyone have that 62 Series garmin up there? Does it work with the maps?

This is for use on things like a rafting trip. I am a dinosaur - use paper maps and an old GPS that gives coordinates, and I'd like to upgrade. They have a weekend sale of this one at REI, and I'm looking for something newer, with ability to put maps on it; seems that Garmin sells maps for alaska, but of variable resolution - I think maybe some 100K, some 63.5K; but they don't say where or what it looks like. Maybe there's a way to put free downloads on a GPS that are better. Whatever....I have a few months to figure it out, but I don't wanna blow $350 on something that doesn't do the trick.

    Hence the question.

I run a 62 with the huntinggpsmaps.com chip installed. Works great for me and tells me when I am in someones yard or even better when I am on state land that someone SAYS is their yard!

I went to huntingmap.com and could not find information on land ownership in Alaska. Can you help?
