Default The Chena's running a little high

I went up the road today to see how the Chena is doing.

The gravel bar at mile 27.something is a very popular place for folks to fish. It's totally underwater:

the water is about a foot under the lip of the bank.

And Hodgins Slough is over its banks:

Once you get above mile 45 or so it's very high but not quite so radical but the fish haven't really arrived yet. I figure the next few weeks will provide an opportunity to get more acquainted with some of the sloughs.

Was out at Chena lakes today fishing with the kids oh yeah, that river is swollen... I didnt even bother getting the poles out for the river today.. Its already over the banks by the boat launch and several places I would stand in the river are probable well over my head... The rain is good for somethings but bad for river fishing.

Yepper what a bummer on a lot of weekend plans. MlShore thank you very much for posting the pics saved a lot of people from attempting a bad idea i.e. family float. Not going to get any better till Weds next week when we get to drying out a little. Bring on the Skeeters! Nice little delay in the ants though Mid June should be a hoot.
