    Default Homer Tide Question

The tide book shows a Seldovia low tide at 12:00pm tomorrow.
If I was fishing off the bluff about 3 miles out when would I see slack tide?

The high or low tide mark out there is about 10 or 15 minutes later. But tides are not exact due to wind conditions, water runoff and a number of different variables and especially if you're 3 miles off the Bluffs. There are different kinds of currents out there, so it's not an exact science. Remember, the tide just doesn't stop going one direction instantly at a particular time and then suddenly start going the other direction. What is considered "slack tide" happens over a protracted period of about an hour or so.

Seems like no matter the tidal stage around here, you can always get a self righteous Homer 'guide' to rise up.
