How about Summit or Paxson Lake?

Both Summit (off the Rich, not Cantwell) and Paxson are frozen to the edges. I was at fielding yesterday and it is starting to open up, probably 1 ac clear near the campsite.

Fielding was the last to thaw last year. Opened mid-June.

Middle Tangle has a lot of open water if your looking to toss junk for Lakers. They were working on the road into the camp ground this weekend. Sweade is also locked up tight. Lots of yappy Ptarmigan out and about.

Normally the first week or two of June is a good time to find open water on those lakes but every now and then they thaw a little sooner.

I drove by summit and paxson yesterday. They are both still froze over for the most part except the edges. There is a fair amount of open water around the outlet on summit but that is about it.

Was out there yesterday and Paxson is open 20+ ft on the edges with one channel that runs from the east shore to the west shore. It has some pockets opened up quite a bit where culverts/streams flow in. I will be taking the zodiak out to fielding after work tonight and see what she is holding.

Fielding hasn't opened up as much as I had hoped, its still just about 50yd off of the shore. I hit the little river that flows out of the north end and got some grayling but not alot. Had some guys that I work with go out to Tangle last night so interested to hear how that was.

Just looking for an updated report. Is the south boat launch at Summit open? Don't mind fishing around some ice, just want to get the boat wet.

Drove by yesterday. Summit is still 80+ percent ice. I'm unfamiliar with boat launch location but lake was pretty well covered still. Tangle lakes is a bit more open, definitely enough for a canoe anyway. Tangle river was flowing high and fast!

Just went by Paxson and Summit this morning. Paxson is about 50% open. The inlet area is entirely open. Summit is still only open around the edges. The outlet is entirely open. I would say Paxson will be navigable this weekend.

    Thanks for the update gutleap.

If there is still ice on the water this weekend, watch the wind direction. You don't want to get trapped. Here is a photo from the boat; 6/9/11 on Summit.
