Which would pack more punch,44-40 or 44 S&W special ?
I'm not sure what kind of velocity one would get from the standard 246 grain round nose 44 special factory load, fired from a 20 inch rifle barrel--and which would pack more wallop, this rifle/load combo or the old 44-40 rifle (same barrel length) shooting the standard 200 grain factory loads?
|.44-40 Win. (200 FP)
|.44 Rem. Mag. (240 FP)
Number left to right are MV, V @ 200 yds, ME, E @ 200 yds

Thanks--but that was not really the question--I wanted to compare the 44-40 and the 44S&W special (not 44 Mag).
Oh dang.. must be early.

It is early-- Still doesn't answer my question though...the chart showed pistol barrel lengths...I was wondering about comparing the load as fired from a 20 inch rifle barrel (ie more velocity).
