You mean out of Whittier or out of Seward? I shrimp out of Whittier (along with half the people in Alaska) and do quite well, never tried out of Seward, its a long run to the grounds and the few people I have read about doing it say its not worth it. In Whittier you can catch shrimp within a mile of the Harbor (maybe closer but I am not setting my pots in entrance to the harbor), out of Seward you have to run outside the Bay and then some I believe.

I think you can shrimp inside the bay this year, but the one report I read on here, a guy dropped some pots by caines head and pulled them empty, not a single shrimp.

I have friends in Seward watching the shrimping there, and they say that people are getting some shrimp inside the bay, but nothing like you see in PWS.

You need to get the updated reg's. I don't think it is printed in the book but yes you can shrimp in the bay starting this year. I do think it has been slow. A few have been caught but not that many.

I believe that it was part of an emergency order changing the boundary of the North Gulf Coast shrimp fishery. I promise I didn't photoshop it to get you in trouble.
