I got a visit this morning by a little guy. First one of the year right around my place. Was out snowshoeing last week and cut a very large set of Black Bear tracks. They are out and on the move for sure. Good Luck.

A buddy of mine went out of Valdez this last weekend and in his group of four, they connected on two. Saw many more, even though most were high up. Hunted Shoup Bay. As you know Steve, I know nothing of that bay. Wish you and your son success and a safe trip! I'm sure you guys will live like kings and have a blast. Hard not to with you brother!

Zach and I headed up the Taylor Hwy to have a look around. Stopped off at Quartz Lake, to fish a little.

    Awesome day!!!

Checked out some great spots along the way.

    Must be spring.

Not long in the hunt area and we spot a GIANT blondie. We pull over and grab our gear and work our way back to him. He spots us and makes a run for it..

I trap him under a huge bolder and talk Zach around to block the other side. At just the right moment,,, I take the shot... Perfect profile...

    Welcome to Chicken!!!

Spotted our 1st Blackie north of chicken,, saw a few and could have taken one, but we will look around a bit first.

    Ate good...

Saw lots of moose and Bou too..

Eagle was cool and we checked out some sites and history.

That is where he is buried.

Wonder how long that bear has been nailed to this cabin?

    Beaver Lodge

    Night Off!!

    Still cold at night.

Had an awesome trip,, no bear but, an awesome father son trip. We will get one next time!!!

Old mining cabin off the road and the plane was parked at Moon Lake Wayside. Just thought she looked nice sitting on the lake shore.

Thanks for posting the pics Steve, Those father/son excursions are always the best and should be cherished forever, glad to see you guys saw alot of game, that's always a good sign, and a great sightseeing trip too. Hard to understand how you guys eat so well yet stay so thin. Son looks like he's in great shape, I'm sure he'll be a great sheephunter like his ole' man. Thanks for sharing..CK

Were those pics taken with the Pentax Optio W90 ? Just pulled mine out the other day and thinking about buying an extra battery.

Good stuff, Steve...but I can't believe you didn't get a picture of the giant chicken that a forum member made and donated to the town last summer! Did you happen to notice that when you passed through Chicken?

Very cool shot of the porcupine, by the way. Those are such cool critters.

I did see a couple giant chickens,, one even had a hole in it to stick your head in for a photo.
