Interesting difference in accounts... Other news sources say he turned and ran until he tripped and fell, whereupon the bear swatted him around a few times and departed. Much more drama in the ADN story.

Thanks the lord he is ok. Sounds like they may have to keep an eye out for this guy so that the next time the story doesn't have a different ending.

Eagle river valley is no joke. After living 4 miles in for several years I've seen more bears than I can shake a stick at. There's a few big sows who routinely have 2-3 cubs. Most are humanized to one degree or another and not afraid to venture into yards or garages.

Be armed and on your toes.

We do not go to the green woods and crystal waters to rough it, we go to smooth it. We get it rough enough at home; in towns and cities; in shops, offices, stores, banks anywhere that we may be placed

We took our kids down to the yurt for a few days and hiked out on the 13th. We only got a glimpse of a small black as it was running in the opposed direction on the first day. I'm glad he is OK and honestly with my kids age 4 and 5 I'm glad i only saw the ass of a small bear running away.
