    Default YES

A pair of Canadas are flying around the house right now in Anch. First of the season. Half hour after I heard them a seagull is calling. Both are firsts for the year and it's Wed evening. Yeaaa.

I saw my first flock tonight, 5 of them setting wing on the neighborhood pond, I think there is some open overflow. I think the next couple days they will show in force.

the anc daily news had a cover story on this the other day. Some geese were around found out their spots were still frozen so maybe they headed down south a bit. They'll be back in no time. I saw some pintails flying on the Kenai flats. Also saw some teal that looked happy to be back home, darting around following the hens....Gosh it's awsome to see this side of the migration. this pic I took was in spring of '05 in a pond just off the hwy and a few hundred yds from the house.

There are a few hundred of them down on the Park Strip downtown Anchorage. Saw them starting on Wednesday. I didn't see as many neckbands as I have in the past. I guess the red, orange, and blue bands are easy to spot looking through the bead of a shotgun!

My wife saw some fly overhead here in Fairbanks this weekend. They are probably hitting Creamers now.

There was a flock of about 100 geese in the potato fields at Trunk/Palmer-Wasilla this morning. There were also about 50 mallards in the water on the other side of Trunk in the mud pond too.

Saw 4 today on Eielson. I was wondering when they would get here, considering the reports coming from Delta J a week ago.

    Default Geese flying south

I saw my first flock of geese this afternoon when the tide was in, unusual thing about it though, they were flying south. I am in SW Alaska, Kuskokwim Bay.
