    Son and I were walking into the bait station last night and spotted a blackie coming into a large clearing. He (my son ) put a 10 minute stalk on him and shot from about 30 yds with the ole 45-70 open sights. Nothing huge but couldn"t pass it up.

    Congrats that is a nice looking bear! Talk about a great way to start a father son hunt!

    Right on! Good lookin' beast! I am concerned that you guys weren't using sub-.5" MOA "benchrest" firearms, though; risky, very risky

    Ha Ha iron sights and shooting sharp sticks is the only way to go.
