Default Catching sockeyes in the salt?

I've caught a fair share of sockeye in the rivers, and quite a few dipnetting as well. I've read lots of debates on here regarding whether they will actually "bite" in the rivers, and everyone seems to have their thoughts on that. What I am wondering is whether you've caught them in the salt before? If so, how? Are similar to silvers or kings at all? I am wondering about when they ball up at the base of cook inlet prior to coming up to the Kenai/Kasilof/etc. Are they catchable out there? Thanks in advance for any thoughts on this.

There was a real good thread on this a few months back. Try scrolling or searching, and everything you're asking has already been answered, hashed and rehashed.
