George Pappas, the Kenai Area Biologist, announced personally today that bait will be allowed on the Kenai River beginning at at 12:01 a.m. 6/10. This is the earliest that I can remember that bait was allowed, since the restriction was enacted.

This allowance is for 100 yards below the Kenai River/Moose River Confluence and good to the Kenai mouth.

Based on today's fishing, however, I will be surprised if bait makes much difference. It was like July at Eagle Rock today, and yet I only saw 5 fish caught all day (6:00 AM to 4:00 PM). It wasn't pretty.
