    Thumbs up Best Boat names

What are some of the best names you have seen on a boat.

    Default One of mine

My first boat was a handme down from my grandfather, a 14 foot Shell Lake fiberglass trihull powered (note sarcasm) by an ancient 7.5 mercury two blade outboard. It was extremely stable and well built but was also extremely heavy. It needed some glass work on the keel etc. and so after stripping a bunch of areas I decided it was due for a full paint job. Being on budget I didn't want to drop the cash for real marine paint so I opted for tractor paint (great oil enamel) in International Red. (you farm boys know the color) well, it was a bit of an oddity and for the first year or so was really really bright. My buddy who had a much different cash situation than I and had things in Lund Green and outfitted with shiny options used to laugh at my little tug and affectionaly named it "Heavy Flo" when we discussed a proper name for my baby...I'm sure you get the off-color jist of this one. It was purely his pet name for a year or so when I received an envelope from him with nice stickon letters around Christmas time and that spring I was obliged to christen her accordingly. Flo and I were inseparable right up til the day before I moved up here. Now she is in the hands of an old buddy in Illinois, chasin cats, harassing pond bass and turning heads with giggles at the boat ramp.....man I miss that boat.

    Default Boat names

I have a fleet of river boats that all seemed to acquire their names quite naturally. Here are some of the more endearing:

"Lithophile" got named because she managed to kiss every rock on a Cataract Canyon trip.
"Chingshishango" was named after some gawd-awful Ecuadoran aguardiente of the same name that was responsible for nightly incapacitation of all boatmen on a Rio Napo expedition.
"Perfidious Wench" named after a former girlfriend whom I had promised to name a boat after.

My new Hewescraft is called the "GladDan" in honor of my deceased parents (Gladys and Dan) who inculcated in me the desire to obtain the education that gave me the wherewithall to acquire all the toys.

This is fun. I like to read the names of boats and guess their significance.

    Default I build power lines...

...which are built on a right of way.
So I named it the Right Of Way.

Which might work out in a potential heading conflict.."but I have the right of way" to which I can reply, "I am the Right Of Way!"

My buddies, Boot, is the Naught enuff.

    Default Boat name

My current boat is "The Fellowship" which I think is a great name for a Pastor's boat. I have had others. "Sweet 18" which was an 18 foot Starcraft. "The Barbara J" which was a 34 foot Luhrs, I thought if I was going to buy that expensive of a boat I better name it after my wife.
