Wink Prepair for the boating season

I would like to share with you some of the experience I have with preparing for the new boating season.

    1. Check for air in boat trailer tires
    2. Look for key to boat
    3. Hook up trailer
    4. Drive to Homer and Launch

I may have left out a few steps.

Make sure boat is tied down to trailer
    Check trailer lights
Check the wheel bearings on trailer
Clean leaves and debris from inside of boat including cabin and bilge.
Wash down boat and apply polish, clean windows and vinyl
    Clean connectors and install batteries
Install radio, sounder and GPS units and do check out
Check that wash down and bilge pumps are in working order
Check oil level in lower units and 4 strokes
Attach water hose and test run motors
Replace fuel filter and test run again
    Install drain plugs
Inspect the transducer and bracket for proper angle and condition
Put aboard the safety required equipment after checking expiration dates.
Make sure your anchor is aboard and secured. Not ready to fall off in traffic
Check boat registration and AK numbers are current
Now itís time for the fishing gear, food, beverage, rain gear, charts, binoculars, sun glasses, sun screen, first aid kit and extra dry warm cloths. Gloves and rubber boots are nice too.
Donít forget the camera, cell phone and a bucket for the little woman.
    All captains should be armed.
Oh, and check out the air horn and grab the bait.

    Default amendment

I forgot to mention to check all fuel lines and function test bilge blower.
Running and anchor lights should be checked too.
My list is meant to be helpful but may not be all inclusive. Please add to the list anything you can think of.
