    Default My Outhouse Build

Just like classic car enthusiast sites, I'm beginning a build thread for my spring project: the cabin's new outhouse. I've been planning it for a few weeks and, with the help of a free online floorplanning site, I think I've settled on the design.

I had a backhoe at the property this week and the first group of photos are attached. More will follow as the project progresses. It will be fancy...enjoy!

The original Outhouse...NOT approved by my wife.

The original again. A tree fell within inches of the structure this winter. When I went to remove it, it was suspended by ice & snow. I knew the pressures felt strange when I was making my cuts but I didn't expect this.

    Default Pictures cont....

As seen in the photo, I put multiple holes for drainage in the bottom 3' of a 10' stick of 24" culvert.

The culvert set & leveled. I lined outside the culvert with sewer rock the lower 3' of the pipe.

Dirt work completed. I'll begin building the floor in my garage this weekend...

Since I'm on the road system I thought I'd get a few other things done with the machine. We removed leaning trees, pulled stumps and improved the driveway. I'm asking Santa for a backhoe for Christmas.

    Finally built the floor.

This is a photo of the underside after insulation & vapor barrier. I have yet to sheet the underside to keep critters out.

It's a heavy SOB even after letting the lumber dry in the garage. It will take the neighbors backhoe to put it on the trailer for transport.

It's been a while since I've added to my build thread but construction will begin soon. The image is my tentative design for the floor plan and I hope to have the structure enclosed with roof on by the end of the month.Attachment 63114
