Boat design software??
I'm not sure if this is the right place for this, but I'm looking for some boat design software. Preferrably something that would work for a non-engineer/boat builder to help with a general layout. I'm really more interested in layout than hull design as I'm hoping to work with one of the custom aluminum builders in the future, but it would be fun to work on an actual hull if that's an option.
The caveat is I don't want to spend a huge amount of money on this as it is really more of a project/hobby idea than anything else and my wife won't let me spend much on design software.
I appreciate any ideas and suggestions.
For designing layouts I would look at Google SketchUp, http://sketchup.google.com/. It's a free, relatively easy to use modeling program. If you're interested in hull design check out DelftShip at http://www.delftship.net/. Not free, but not too terribly expensive and used by amateur and professional boat designers.
Thanks, I'll check them out.

Wow. Yeah...Rhino 3D is pricey. Looks pretty awesome, though.
