    Default what a good distance between bait barrels?

    I'm hunting with a buddy that's never bear hunted before and was wondering if anybody had an idea on. whats a good distance between bait barrel's? I was thinking around 1.5 mile or so.

    The farther the better really, but it all depends on the population and terrain. If you have a ton a black bears in the area you could put them a bit closer especially if you hunt in the mountains. Only problem with putting them too close is that the bears might not stick around as long because they bounce back and forth during their feeding times. Also, if you have a large brown bear population like on the Kenai, you can count on them finding and destroying both if they are too close together. Hope this helps
