Default Help from the northern guys???

I live in anchorage and do most of my ice fishing south. Work is sending me to fairbanks to work monday 4-2-12 thru 4-21-12. Im planning to start driving up on friday 3-30 and fish/camp my way up. I'm restricted to foot traffic only. I have a 10'' eskimo auger with a quickfish6 tent. And a big buddy on a 20lbs tank. Im looking for any info for lakes and what and where to fish. I was thinking about montana lake and maybe mile 180 lake. And then of course harding and quartz lakes on the weekend when im not working. Any info would be much appreciated!!!

All the lakes along the Richardson HWY are less than 30 inches thick and solid. You should not need an extension, we have not used one. There is snow cover on all the lakes. I have not been out to Quartz recently but I am sure the access is available in the boat launch area and I would fish shallower rather than in the deeper depths. expect things to be slow. I have done almost all of my ice fishing on harding lake this last couple months. The bite has been slow also, although we have marked quite a few fish. You will need to walk a little bit to access the fishable areas. Do you have a small sled to pull behind. Do you have electronics/flasher? I would bring both. shrimp and salmon eggs have worked at quartz and tube jigs, spoons or herring at Harding. With warmer weather and more sunlight coming should help the bite. Maybe we can get together on a weekend you have off? 907-388-4532

I do not have any info about Montana Lake.

Thanks for the info guys!!! Gonna head out Friday morning and stay at least one night at Byers lake. I found a bathymetric map online for Byers lake. Any suggestions on where and what to use there? I do have a good size pull sled and a Marcum LX-5. I will be working Monday-Friday 8-5 while I'm in Fairbanks. So Jedi any Saturday or Sunday I will be more than game to hit Harding for some hogs!!!

Just give a call when you can, temps have been above 40 yesterday. I will be fishing it more than a couple times this coming month.

Can you give me some pointers on the lake? I'll be there Friday the 13th through Sunday the 15th. Thank you!
