Halibut growth rate

I read this article and had to wonder if the harvest of the bottom of the food chain fish is having and impact on the growth rate of the halibut. http://www.adn.com/2012/03/23/238809...h-creates.html How are the herring populations in AK doing overall?

It might be time to take out some whales! We are looking at a over population of whales that might be killing off the herring populations. If we look back to when whales were at a all time low, herring were of great abundance and so were many other fish stocks.

Herring are coming in right now to spawn. I was out in the boat today and stopped counting whales.. so many!

It'll be interesting to hear how the spawn is this year.
