Default Spring Break Success in Paradise

Spring break saw some fine weather and settled snow conditions. Dogs had to work hard but could get out and about. I found my self in up to my waist a few times...once to my armpits even with snow shoes. I saw where there were a few avalanche/slides had occurred and avoided those steeper slopes, but the dogs were able to get some great exercise, multiple points each and I was able to get a few birds in the bag.
It took us a few days to find where they were hanging out but we eventually found some birds. I even had a bonus...I found a group of whitetail ptarmigan! I might have to take a couple to Ed Forstner to mount for me.
We should have gone out again today, but all three of us were pooped after several days humping around.

The dogs and I have not been out much this winter due to snow conditions and some of the cold temperatures. We hope to take advantage of the last few weekends of the season.

    Default Even more pics

Sorry for monopolizing my own thread...
The birds did a lot of running and I wasnt able to get very good pictures of the dogs on point...plus my snowshoes and I were kinda slow. I think I need to consider a new camera too, my little point and shoot doesnt have good resolution when I zoom in.

Cool! Glad you and the boys got out, Burke. The snow certainly is deep this year. But since I'm not so tough any longer I try and find birds in more favorable conditions. :-) The willows are moving around again and begining their migration and are showing up all around Fairbanks, so the dogs and my cameras are getting in on some fun.

Great pictures. I enjoy seeing a Brittany in the field doing what they were meant to do, mine has been gone now for 5 years.

Thanks for sharing! My wife just sent me a few pics from Saturday (I think the same place). Man, I miss it. March is my favorite month for chasing birds.

Very nice! I haven't been lurking around here as much as I used to, but seeing some pics like those, I just might find my way back more often!
