Kenai near Cooper Landing
Anyone fished near the bridge lately? Wondering if there's open water and if you can safely fish from the bank without needing waders or having to walk on the ice. I'm in Anchorage this week for work and was thinking of bringing my flyrod along this trip and poking around there one afternoon next week. I've never fished there his time of year.
Your asking a lot to fish from shore with no waders or walk on ice. For me bank fishing is when you need waders the most.

Was down there 2 weeks ago. Caught 20+ blushed silvers and 1 rainbow between 2 of us. Try egg sucking leaches or various flesh/bead patterns. Bank fishing is possible on the boat launch side, but the north side is where you want to be. Waders are definitely always necessary in my opinion, how else do you plan to properly release if not wading?
