    Default Shrimp pot mesh size

    What is the legal size for mesh on pots ?Have a friend that has a couple of mesh pots he does not want ,They look smaller then 7/8

    Thanks I can never find my way around F&G It's like Lowes I walk by what I'm looking for 4 times before I see it LOL

    A 7/8" dowel has to fall through the mesh by its own weight, no pushing it through.

    Does that only apply to prince William sound?
    I don't see that specified in the regs for the southern south east'

    i'm pretty sure the 7/8" dowel size applies to the whole state.

    Hmm...

    According to 5 AAC 77.660. Personal use shrimp fishery (this covers SE AK)

    There are no mesh size restrictions, or half the rules PWS has.

    It seems PWS has the most restrictions: 5 pots, mesh size restrictions, seasons, permits etc... Glad I don't live there!

    F&G increased the mesh size and changed the regs to restrict to only 2 sides covered for PWS years ago to protect the spot juveniles. It seems to have worked for the spots, but most pinks and coonstripes can escape. I used to love those for cocktail shrimp, the spots went on the barbie.
