we went to Mat tuesday. There was a good 6" of fresh snow to plow through w/ the sled. once we got to the lake there wasnt much more snow under the fresh 6" so the digging wasnt bad for the tent setup. We caught lots of little ones. I even caught one on a bare hook just to show the guy w/ me I was the master! I go there because I seem to catch fish and for kids and new ice fishers its a good place for that. I have also seen some nice trout and char taken from there and it got stocked w/ a few big ones this past year. Ice was probably 30" I didnt measure but had auger left. you should see my tracks if you go out since I broke trail to the other side. We caught them 10' deep w/ shrimp, orange ice jigs and real salmon eggs(red and yellow). I tried a few deep holes but no takers. Have fun. Nice place in summer to w/ a belly boat.

I have never ice fished this lake but I have float tubed it. Once as I geared up by my truck the guy parked next to me showed me a large char he caught. At least 24". This lake has some hogs but I have only caugt dinkers. Watch out releasing fish during open water. The loon that lives there loves to pick them off!

There is plenty of parking in the lot before you get to the main gate. Just unload your rig and walk around the gate. You should see the trail... "fishon"

. Heres a char we caught, this is my first 20+ char but fun to catch on a light rod. Plus we caught it in 13 feet of water i got to watch him hit it pretty cool. The water at mat is real clear. I could see all the way down in 13' or so. Plus no overflow. A lot of lil dinks but we managed a rainbow that was 15 and the char. The walk really wasnt that bad lol
