Default Anybody fish the Ugashik river?

I got a job counting fish there! I assume there will be bows and grayling so I'll tie a bunch of dries nymphs and streamers you know the usual. So are there pike? Lakes trout? Other fun things? I'll be there the month of July basically
I choose to fly fish, not because its easy, but because its hard.

What end of the river will you be working ~ lake or mouth? At the lake you should find grayling & red salmon and you should see dollies, reds, chums, silvers & a few kings in the mix of fresh & salt water at the mouth of the river. You should have plenty of bears up by the lake to help you fish. Don't know how many rainbows that you will see there, but you should see lots of dollies in with the salmon.

Default Get the Bristol Bay Reg Book to be sure.

Check the regs, the Ugashik River is CLOSED to GRAYLING FISHING year round. So that number 16 adams may look a little suspect . But the narrows is just a "no retention" area. Enjoy it, not too many folks get out to that area without forkin out 5 to 7 k for a week at a lodge.
