    Default What is linotype worth?

    I have some pigs of linotype and no longer cast bullets. How much should i ask for it?

    the last lino i bought was on e-bay and i think i paid about $1 per pound but that has been a couple of years ago. should be easy enough to check e-bay and see what folks are asking for it now... I would make you an offer, but I just dont use much of the Lino that I have as I just dont need that hard of an alloy

    I "second the motion" on checking with Ebay. The "Buy It Now" prices will reflect the reality, not the lower prices for starting bids. Looks like around $2 to $2.50/lb is what they are asking. That said, you can sometimes get lucky with the lower starting bids, if few or no other bidders compete against you.
    I guess long gone are the days when we could get linotype for cheap...

    I bought some recently at GNG for $1 per # but it is getting harder to find at that price. I assume you have the long bars that weigh about 23lbs each. I will offer $1.50 per lb for two of the bars but I realize that this is not a high offer. How much tin content is left in the bars is hard to tell as the tin bleeds out over continued use.
