Default Brown Bear on Montague Island

I am thinking of hunting a Brown on Montague in April I am not sure if i should consentrate my efforts on the North side of the island or the South side. There are some better habor sites on the North and the North East sides of the Island. I will be heading out in my 26' hewescraft and staying in the boat at night but will dingy into shore to hunt. I seached the forum and found a good bit about deer hunting the island but not a hole lot on the bears other than they are a bit more angry. Is there any insite on one side or the other other than harbor sites.
I also did the miliage from Whittier and from Seward as to pertaining to the North or South sides to hunt. I would rather go out of Seward than Whittier depending on the side of the island to hunt.

    Thanks for the help.

Couple of buddies and I went deer hunting on the south side of Montague, San Juan Bay area in 2008. Saw very few deer, and MANY large brownies on the beach. We had tags and shot two nice ones. Saw the largest brown bear I have yet to see on that trip. I've never hunted there in the spring so not too sure about April.

I would definitely leave from Whittier. The Gulf can get really nasty in April. The Sound can still get nasty but I would take 4' wind chop over 25' ground swell any day especially in a 26 footer. Plus there are tons of places to hide and ride out the weather in the Sound. Best of luck.
