Would i be able to get enough small game and fish along the Highway to make the trip worth it?

A few ptarmigan, fox and Artic ground squirrels along the way. Remember you can only bow hunt in the 5-mile zone.

YES! There is a ton of small game along the dalton hywy! I was up there last year and saw about 60 grouse along the road and while hunting... One spot to try is the arctic circle campground. Also the area before the Yukon river bridge is loaded with small game. I would warn you though, bow hunting for small game( ptarmagin in particular) can be difficult.

I believe I'd be planning on taking a few caribou home too if I was going to make the trip "worth it" in terms of meat. It's awfully pretty up there, so I'd say the drive is "worth it" alone.

Absolutely. Lots of ptarmigan, I had a blast shooting them with the bow.Attachment 57596

Oh and I came out ahead on arrows. A lot of guys must have been shooting them in the same area and I found more arrows than I lost.

Just south of the shelf all the way north you will find large groups of birds.
