I'm glad I'm not the only one feeling this way! This is my first year of putting in for tags and needless to say I'm probably overly anxious! I've been counting the days since I put in for these tags back in December!

I too feel like a kid at Xmas. I have been all excited today at work but nobody seems to understand.

Your in good company, we all understand here. My annual hunting plans really hinge on these results. So for me its a win-win proposisition. If I win something than I'm going hunting. If I don't, I'm going hunting. Tonight I'll just have a better feel for where.

I am hoping that the recent fire that took my largest Koyukuk rack gives me an inside track to draw that tag again so I can go after an acceptable replacement. Throwing in a Delta Bison would be appreciated as well.

You're good with computers, right? You could just work up a fake ID with my picture and your name. No worries - the permit won't go to waste.

Or...you could enlist in the service, volunteer for immediate deployment, and then be able to defer your permit to next year.

Very well said. Regardless of the results tonight, the next week is going to be a time of serious planning. My wife and kids are leaving state for 10 days tonight, and most of that time is going to be spent poring over maps, making phone calls...and sipping on expensive beer.

Man, that picture breaks my heart. Did you keep the remains? I know it's not the same...but they look kind of cool charred like that.

I hope you win, man. Good luck to you!

    Thanks Brian,
Yes I have the remains and I will figure out a good use for them - it was 69 1/2 prior to the fire, tough to get a big one like that when you shoot the first legal one you see each year. Didn't make it down there last year so we will see at 5 pm what this year has in store.

I've already made up a template....

"I drew the D*-*** tag and I don't know anything about the area, species or even when the season is. Please tell me absolutely everything I need to know so I can harvest the next world record *********."

Just waiting for the results in order to plug in the Tag # and species! Chances are I'll be using my other template.....

    Frostbitten,

Why Wait? I am going to start right now. I just drew the DS-103 and need to know everything. Please start off by letting me know what part of the state it is in so I have an idea about which road to drive on to get there. Will I need to hire an air charter or is it accessible with a 4 wheeler. I am old and decriped so hopefully it doesn't require any walking.

I'll be on my way to Fairbanks at 5 tonight. So, I'll hopefully get some reception on the smart phone to check the results. I think I'll be in the three permits drawn party. Anyway, good luck to everyone.
