Thought I'd post an update about snow conditions in Turnagain. Xanto and I skinned up and made two runs today. I was a spectacular day, though the snow was a little crusty on top during our first run. On our second run (around 4:00pm) the surface had softened up a bit and was pretty nice. It'll only get better as our days get warmer - I love spring snow! There was a weak layer about 8 inches down (thanks to xanto for digging the snow pit and giving me some tips on avalanche awareness!), but it wasn't anything to be too concerned about. Seemed like the rest of the snow pack has bonded up nicely. Get out there and enjoy the spring snow, but make sure that you read the latest avalanche update before you go.
