    Default Savage 30-06

I have a savage 30-06 that I would like to have someone take a good look over it and just make sure everything is up to snuff before the next hunting season. I haven't used it in 3 years since I have gotten into bow huting and want to get it checked out. Any suggestions on where to take it? I live in Wasilla and I've seen some places but wanted others opinions.

Rifles don't usually break, or wear out from sitting around unused.

If you don't have a reason to think that something is wrong with it, go shoot it. It's probably fine.

Of course, you could get a gunsmith to check the function, headspace, etc. I don't know any here in Wasilla myself. You might call Chimo Guns, and ask them.

Check out Arctic Custom Guns in Wasilla. He's located across from the arctic cat store in that small mall. He's done a few rifle projects for me now.

Take a look and see that the bore's clear, run a brusha and a few patches through it, make sure ammo feeds and chambers, Make sure screws, scope mounts and rings are tight, then shoot it. If it was fine 3 years ago and hasn't rusted much, you should be fine. I wouldn't pay someone else to look at it...I'd check it out myself. If you find a problem, then comes the time to take it to someone.

Hunt AK, if you come to anchorage often, I'll loan you my go-no go gauges so you can check the headspace yourself. if it checks out good, I wouldnt worry about it.
