Default Kuiu/3 layer rain gear vs. Kodiak Spring bear hunt?

Is the 3 layer gore-tex/Kuiu rain gear adequite for a spring bear hunt on Kodiak?Or is there a better choice that is not too heavy?

If I was going to Kodiak this spring I'd be wearing my Kuiu Chugach rain gear. For a breathable set of raingear Kuiu would be my choice. Helly Hansen Impertech would be the other excellent choice for lightweight rain gear and has proven itself many times over.

Technically speaking, Kuiu Rain gear (Chugach) isn't three layer. It's a two layer Toray fabric. It's designed to perform and stretch and be lighter than comparable 3 layer Gortex rain wear.

One factor to consider as far as rain gear is concerned, thermal regulation. For very active pursuits I like breathable rain wear. For more sedatary pursuits I like solid rainwear. For example, a late season or early season bear hunt that required lots of hiking I'd go breathable. For an hunt that would leave me exposed in my skiff and glassing from beaches I'd go solid H/H rainwear.

Breathable rainwear does almost too good of a job cooling for me.
