A local sport fishing-related event

School starts all too soon after the winter holiday break, but remember all work and no play make Jill and Jack dull people. To help, the UAF Community and Technical College Recreation Department is offering an Introductory Fly Fishing & Fly Tying class taught by Shann Paul Jones. This one-credit course meets Mondays from 6 to 9 pm, in Room 103 of the Irving I Building on the West Ridge of UAF campus from January 23 through April 30.

Topics Mr. Jones covers in this nationally-recognized program include casting, fishing technique, fly tying and aquatic ecology. There are also some weekend field trips with this short course to provide students plenty of opportunity to hone their new skills. There will be some field trips in April and May during class time, and on selected weekends. Total cost for this class is about $199 including tuition and fees. For more information about this exciting learning opportunity, call Shann Jones at 452-0588.
