    Default Duracoat stuff?

Is there anyone in the Valley or Anchorage that stocks Duracoat stuff, I need some reducer and donít want to make an order just for that. If I canít find their reducer is there something else I could use to clean my airbrush? All new to this stuff, painted sevrial trucks (single stage [Emron] and base/clear both) but that's it so plumb new to this gun coating stuff.

According to Duracoat it is ok to clean up with Lacquer Thinner as long as you occasionally clean with reducer.

I use acetone for cleaning but that is with an all metal gun...not sure it is a good idea on a gun that has plastic parts.
Somewhere along the way I have lost the ability to act politically correct. If you should find it, please feel free to keep it.

Yea thatís a good point I hadnĎt thought about (being primarily a steel-n-wood king of guy) but this is for a poly Walther P22. I was thinking brake cleaner but hadnít thought at all about the melting plastic issue . . . just had flash-backs to trying to prime a carburetor with a foam coffee cup.LOL At least that gives me a use for that extra back strap that must be for little kid size hands . . . test specimen.

I've used lacquer thinner with great results on MANY duracoat projects...

Thanks. I rounded up reducer, lacquer thinner, and always have brake cleaner. You just clean and shoot your poly stuff correct?

I plan to start soon as the replacement sight from S&W comes in. Got the target extension kit Friday so have almost everything, just need the sight so I have everything before I beake it down. The Goddess Purple base should be easy it's the Pink Lady flame job she wants that spooks me some . . . I fear it bleeding under my masking job. I'll post up pix here no mater how bad I do, wish me luck!

The pink lady needs a white base, btw!

I do rough up the poly pieces just a bit (we're talking a good once-over with a scotch brits pad, nothing too extreme) and then degrease, scrub, then degrease again.

Be sure to post pics!! S&W sights in a Walther? Worst case scenario is that you rough it all back up, sand it down and color it black again

That's good to know, hmmm, Iíll need to shoot it in reverse then . . . white base, reverse mask, purple, mask, pink. Iíll definitely post pix, Iím sure I can get it Iíve done quite a bit of this stuff on cars and trucks over the years and it always comes out in the end but this small scale is gonna be fun though.

Smith owns Walther so warrantee service is all through Smith. Also nobody makes any aftermarket rear sight for the P22 for some odd reason so Smith is the ONLY place to get them at all.
