Exclamation Corey Rossi charged with 12 counts of illegal hunting.

If it survives the lock, this sucker may have legs.

    From the article:

Rossi took a couple non-resident hunting in Game Management Unit 16B in June of 2008. GMU 16B is the area in and around Mount Susitna, an easily visible landmark from Anchorage, Alaska's largest city. It is a wild and undeveloped area with a bounty of bears. Rossi's hunters killed three of them. Rossi shot another. Alaska law at the time required the hunters to have the hides sealed. Sealing, which basically involves marking the hides for identification, is one of the ways state officials keep track of how many bears are killed. "Rossi falsified the sealing forms by claiming that he killed the three bears taken during the hunt," according to the state. "Rossi submitted falsified big game hunt records indicating the two out of state hunters were unsuccessful in taking game. Rossi also submitted a permit hunt report indicating that he killed all four bears."

    Angry He should be fired!

This guy is a bum and giving up those coveted tags is bogus. Through the book at him if he's guilty.

I will bet you that it just gets swept under the rug.

BUT if it were you or I we would probably loose all hunting rights & VERY Large fine, Possibly jail.

    I guess we shall see.

It is, ain't it? Once you start adding everything up (this, coveted tags each year, in the job position he is in now) with that guy, he appears as a crook.

And why did it take 4 years for this to make it to the surface? Had he already been charged with a case pending or what? How does this pop up now but not then?

From the ADN link posted earlier:

Alaska Wildlife Troopers investigated the case after learning about the accusations through an unrelated, out-of-state investigation conducted by another agency, troopers say.

The 'choice' to investigate may have also finally become no longer an option once exposed elsewhere, not to mention the wait possibly being a safer way to keep one's LE job in our existing administration. Speculation on my part; certainly - I admittedly lack trust (with solid reasons).

The article didn't mention how Rossi went on a registraion ox hunt out of Nome and tried to bypass the mandatory trophy distruction and get the horns out of the unit. What a piece of work that guy is....

so it gets better.. a quick search of the others mentioned shows one to be a guide/outfitter in 4 western states who had a forgery charge filed on him by WA DWR, and the other is a globe-trotting trophy hunter and a big friend of SCI.
