I used to fish for King and tanner crab up in the Haines area commercially (in the 80s and early 90s) and it was always a problem finding suitable amounts of Pacific cod for hanging bait. There is plenty of food available (shrimp), but the entire area around Haines and up to Skagway seemed barren of cod. For years it was legal to set sunken gillnets for bait and we gave just about all likely-looking spots a thorough try, but we had no luck on cod anywhere north of Seduction Pt. I am not aware of any lingcod in Lynn Canal. You may find some pockets of rockfish on either side of the islands between Seduction and Eldred Rock, or possibly along the east shoreline of Sullivan Island. Good luck!
