Default Anyone rig up a side-hung motor mount?

Anybody ever rig one up for their tripper style canoe, so that you could mount a small OB on it? Poor mans freighter so to speak.

I've seen a number of sidemounts for outboards on canoes. I know one person with a full on lift setup for a double-ender. His is essentially like the Klingel (spelling?) style, just with the mount sticking out the side instead of centered on the back as it would be for a square stern. There are tool boxes mounted on the opposite side to offset the outboard weight to keep things balanced. He's run up to 15hp on that, smaller would be even easier.

A quick google search of "canoe side mount motor" will get you some good pictures of some options out there for basic side mounts.

Wow, that must have been a pretty long double ender, to hang a 15 hp off the side; do you remember its length or beam?

Really, length isn't the problem as long as you have adequate counter weight to balance it out and enough weight in the bow to offset the stern weight.
