    Default lake george

Anyone out there know much about lake george off the Tanana? I'm thinking of doing some jigging for pike there this weekend, but it is a big lake and I would love it if someone could give me some suggestions as to any particular place or effective lure, also water depth, and lake trout info?

    Thanks

If I had to bet I'd say there are pike
I choose to fly fish, not because its easy, but because its hard.

Lots of Pike in the lake. My buddy went out on the hard water for pike 3 weeks ago. They caught lots of Pike. They set up a portable hut the ice was about 40 inches thick. Fishing in a cove about 8 feet of water. I think you could catch Pike any where 15 to 20 feet from the shore line.

I have never heard of lake trout caught but I have never targeted them or caught one there. I have fished it in the summer and caught Pike all over the lake. You can poop on a hook and catch a pike. But if you have large spoons...Mepps Cyclops, swedish pimple, kastmasters...any type large spoon. I also use halibut plastic jigs.

Good Luck. Of course I am not a "guide" so my suggestions should be taken as that of a novice "know it all". Even with my lacking credentials I do catch a lot of Pike from George.

I do not mind. I do not have GPS coordinates for you. Yes the lake is big.

I am sure anywhere along the back end of the Lake there will be pike. The coves they fish are near the small island. You can also follow the snow machine trails and find the spots where there has been fishing. No way it will be fished out, Pike will be there.
