Any Arctic Cat M series gurus?
We are trying to swap out 141 m7 rails for a 153. It seems that geometry is off. The front arms bolt right up but the distance between the rear arm and the rear shock mount shaft is 2" longer on the 153 which seems to cause the shock to bind before the suspension hits full extension. We have access to the skid components for a 162 but haven't been able to tell if they are the same as the 153 and don't want to waste money going the wrong way. Anyone know? I keep hearing hat the 141 guts should bolt right up but they clearly don't!
Components we have are a 153 take off track and rails from an '07 m8. The project sled is a 2006 M7 141.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. We are trying to get her all bolted up to hit p-ville in the morning
No guru by any means, but I know where to look up the part numbers. The 141 and 153 skids in 2006 have the same part numbers for all the components except for the rails. The 141 and 153 skids in 2007 also have the same numbers between the two lengths...BUT they are different from the 2006 skids.
I take it that the shock is fully extended before the rear lines up to bolt in, correct? Do make a measurement from the tip of the rails and note the distances on both skids.
Rear Idler pivot arms installed correctly?
Is there room on the rail to move the rear system forward, like an extra set of mounting holes, to help it match.
How about a couple of pics.
Just thinking out loud....but trying to offer ideas.
We went over to a buddies who has an 2007 sled with a 153 and took some measurements. The rear arm from the lower bracket up to the shaft that the springs slide over is 9.5" on the '06 141 and the '07 153 is 12". This is the only obvious difference but it is key. We are headed out in the morning so we finally pulled the plug on the project for this week and stuffed the 141 back under it and got her slapped back together.
