There will be a 8 foot high jack fence out there next spring. Had a moose tear my horses electric fence down the other night guess for now I'll just leave it strung around out there till spring cause it's froze in maybe one of them lucky souls blowing by my no trespassing signs will get it wound up in there track

MEA will give you signage for easements. They allow fences but need a key or something to get through. Try some orange mesh fencing?

Unfortunately, signs seem to only be applicable to literate people with morals.... I built a jack fence across a utility right of way on my place a few years ago, and posted it. The little ******* still found a way around it. So, I tracked him all the way back to his house and had a chat. Problem solved.

A utility easement is an agreement to allow the utility company to cross private property. It remains your private property. You can fence it as you see fit. However, as previously noted, the utility needs to be able to gain access to the easement for maintenance.

You should be able to weld up something and paint it white and put it out there to "dry".

Yes, it is specific easement for a specific use only. You still own the land. Even MEA employees can't use the easement if not on official MEA business.

    What is a "jack fence"?
Can you track them to their house as stated earlier?

Just Google it and you'll see a picture. It's also called "buck and rail fence".

Uh, yes. That's what I said, and what I did. Perhaps I don't understand your question.

They do not want you to attach any signs to their poles. I have 10 rolls of rusty razor wire that you are welcome to.

MEA gave me privite easement signs those are on the poles, but I would take you up on the wire offer for future use. and tracking them would work fine till they hit the trail on church road with 10 million others

This happened in the Butte about 15-20 years ago as well. Just about as sad a story as I have ever heard.
