    Default Look at these Dinkers!!

AlcanRon and myself went to our favorite lake today in hopes of hooking into a monster laker or char. Ron caught a 28" and a 31" laker. The only thing I caught was the opportunity to photo Rons fish. It sure was fun to watch Ron hook into these beauties of the deep. As a matter of fact, Ron and I were just talking about how at a certain depth these lakers seem to come out of nowhere and rise up to your jig when that actually happened. It is like Ron "willed" this laker out from the depths. A very enjoyable day on the lake.

There was about 6" of new snow on the lake combined with the drifts from previous snows make this lake pretty much a snowmachine access only. There was a truck that pulled out onto the ice and got stuck and then spent the next few hours getting back out. Ice was 19 inches thick.

There were a handful of other people on the ice today. One young man really stood out today. He is a fellow forum member and he caught a hog of a laker today. That is why Ron thinks the fish he caught today are dinkers compared to this fellow. I hope he posts his story and photo on here. I must say that this young man is a dedicated laker taker and he most certainly proved it today.

20lb Berkley Crystal Fusion followed by a berring swivel with3-4ft of 20lb flurocarbon. Have not been broke off yet or even come close. The line works great even when it rubs on the edge of the hole.
