Default Wounded Warrior - Black bear hunt

I have not done this in a couple of years now but it is Christmas so here goes.

If you are a wounded warrior and interested in spending a few days in early June, doing an archery hunt for black bear over bait, give me a PM. I have a boat on Price William Sound and run a bear stand out of port. I'll run you out and assist you in harvesting a black bear out of my stand, cover the gas cost, cabin if I can rent it or otherwise lodging here in Valdez.

I have pictures from other hunts and pics of bears I have taken in the past.

You will have to walk up hill a little bit, about 70 yards further and then climb 12 feet. Very comfortable stand.

I'm not an ol' vet, but I also appreciate the support you show Dave. Great job. No tickertape parade goin' on, but we need to do all we can to support our servicemen that have returned, after they've given so much for us all.

I know of a wounded vet that'd be interested... but is unable to draw a bow due to shoulder injury/surgery..... How strict are you on the archery only?

Kudos to you for offering this!

Edit: hmm...come to think of it I'm not even sure he can shoot a rifle... I'll hafta find this out.

Lets talk! I prefer archery but if a soldier has a disability.... so be it.

We do have have a candidate for the hunt. We just have to finish the communication process and see if the logistics will work out.

I am going to send my tree stands down the river again for them to use this spring, Randy said vets did quite well in his area last year. Ya know if I could get some donations for materials and supplies I wouldn't mind setting up some more single tree unit's to loan to them for this cause

Thanks for putting this out there Dave you are a great guy! If you need any dog food I still have a bag left over from last year that you are welcome to. I might have a friend coming to Valdez this winter that could drop it off if you are not going to Anchorage.

Joe: I don't if you have heard yet, but I would like to take you out this spring, to my bear stand on Prince William Sound for a weekend to black bear hunt. It is just a way to say, Thanks, for your service to our country. I have a 21 foot boat and have been hunting out there for about 8 years now. I will also try to provide you with lodging for the weekend at a B&B for free so you have a place to stay.

It will be close hunting from a tree stand, 18 yards. I usually only bow hunt but since your shoulder is bad, a gun is fine. I can't guarantee success but usually patience pays off.

The weekend of June 2nd or the 10th are the best weekends to hunt. Bait is active and usually lots of bears around.

If this is something you would like to do, please feel free to contact me and let me know. If you want to talk about it in person, my home phone is 835-^&*% and I am usually in the house by 5 p.m. (or shoveling the 220" of snow we have had this year.)

    Sincerely, Dave Armstrong

Thanks again Dave. He's not a member here but I just sent him a link to this page. Your phone number didn't post correctly I might add. Safe to assume the missing numbers are 6785?
