Default What a nightmare to look forward to next year....

Was at wallmart today and picked up a tide book for next year. Happened to take a glance while watching TV tonight. Opening day next year falls on a Saturday. Every duck hunter in the state will be on the marsh, what a nightmare opening weekend will be. 9 more months. Bud

Guess I will have to take Friday off, and get out to my spot early and camp over night.

Counting the days right now. Regardless the day it falls on, I'll find room somewhere in the state to knock down a few. Wish I could make it out to the chain to extend the season. Maybe a spring hunt in Missouri or so for snow. Jonesing for duck already.

Just how many duck hunters are we looking at? Anyone know how many duck hunters are licensed in Alaska?

Don, I can guarantee there are at least 5 licensed duck hunters in Ak. Opening day is the day you can expect most of the duck hunters to be out though. And it falling on a saturday means all of them will probably hunting. I can't imagine how bad it's going to be at Duck Lake, all of the lakes on maud road are going to be packed, and Cottonwood creek probably won't have any open ponds. I plan on camping out next to my spot, or just saying screw it and go try to get a sheep (unless I already got one).
