    Default Side Bunk Carpet?

I'm looking to replace my guide-ons and was wondering where everyone gets the carpet here in Anchorage.

answered my own question. Lowes has it on the shelf. Buy it by the foot.

Be careful what kind of carpet you buy I've seen certain carpets break down in the weather/salt conditions and do a number on the aluminum. Theres some kind of chemical reaction w/ certain carpet glue and it corrodes aluminum fyi

    I'm taking a poll

Thanks for the info. This stuff doesn't really have much of a back on it. And the guy there said he sells lots of it for trailers. I hope he wasn't talking crap just to sell it. I'm gonna use it for the guide ons so either way I don't think it will hurt much. Won't even be touching the boat unless I'm loading or off loading.

Sportsmans also has bunk carpet it in pre-cut rolls in case anyone else is looking for some.

Buy the mildew proof stuff at Lowes & staple it on. Put the seam & the staples on the bottom side of your guide ons.

I rebuilt my bunks about 4 years ago witht the Lowes carpet. It has completly fallen apart along the top of the bunk. It might have been from stepping on it. I honestly haven't stepped on it THAT much. Nest time I'll try a dark astro turf or something.

I bought the mildew resistant stuff and they turned out pretty nice looking. I don't have much into them now, so if it last me a couple years and falls apart, so be it. Trex is too flimsy for side bunks but I guess next time I'll just line my 2X6's with some thin UMHW. Thanks for the info guys. Time to move onto the next winter boat project, Bow push plates on the trailer.......
